watching you

i see in your eyes

what used to be in mine

a fisheye lens

pretty hue with blurred edges

i feel your heart

the way mine used to sink

into the depths of the void

the thrilling flight

i hear your words

i once wished to hear

ricocheting off walls

landing nowhere

i’ve been where you are

and wish to be the reflection you need

the tandem beating

of your ever loving ocean

my eyes only see darkness

my heart has sunken far enough

my words have failed
